As a Junior: Pitched in seven games, making two starts ... Led the Bears with 27 strikeouts and two runners picked off ... Compiled a 2-2 record with a 8.33 ERA in 27 innings pitched ... In his final appearance on April 28th against USMMA, Cortez went seven innings and struck out eight batters in a losing effort.

As a Sophomore: Made eight appearances starting three games ... Had a 1-0 record with a 6.52 ERA and 20 strikeouts ... Picked up his first career win on March 22 against Lincoln (PA) allowing four runs in five innings ... Against NYU on March 18th, Cortez struck out a season high seven batters over four innings.
